The first incidence of crowd violence would be the beating up of the bloke who starts the chant, ‘Gimme a G, gimme an R…‘ That, however, is pretty much a translation of the Istanbul team Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor, who last night succumbed to my adopted Turkish team, the mighty Beşiktaş, in a three-goals-in-the-last-ten-minutes thriller. In almost ten years of living here, I’ve yet to meet a Belediyespor supporter, or perhaps there are some, it just takes too long for people to say their name.
