Fallen giants take out their frustrations

Well, it may have been a shite week to have been an Italian or even a Spaniard, but two of the biggest chumps from the midweek CL games made their weekend opposition pay last night.

Juventus 4 – 1 Bologna

The old lady fell behind at home to Bologna when Massimo Mutarelli finished superbly. Hasan Salihamidzic brought the Turin boys level in the second half with a header from Giovinco’s corner. Juve then garbbed two quick-fire goals from Sebastian Giovinco and Alex Del Piero, unfortunately, I’d fallen asleep by this point so missed the revival. Del Piero completed the comeback with a fourth right at the death.

Athletic Bilbao 2 – 5 Real Madrid

‘The positive thing is that we came to a tricky ground and won and we are still in with a chance, let’s hope Almeria will do us a favour tomorrow and we can keep this good form going.’

Iker Casillas hopes Barça will slip up.

Arjen Robben and a Gabriel Heinze put Real two up after 34 minutes before Heinze – also the midweek villain – put the ball into his own net. Fernando Llorente then made it 2-2 going into the break. Klaas Jan Huntelaar grabbed one early in the second half before grabbing another when he raced on to a Robben pass, lifting the ball over the Bilbao keeper. Higuain wrapped up the win for Real from the penalty spot.
