Panini legends #7: The club that sacked Fergie

An important part of Panini’s marketing when they launched collections for the UK market was a Scottish club section. In this first British album, the innovatively titled ‘Football 78′, Rangers and Celtic, naturally, were given the same allocation as the English teams – 14 players plus their boss – while the other SPL clubs were restricted to a mere seven players and their manager. The Scots were habitually photographed against a backdrop of plain sky varying from mid-blue to bleak grey. Asking you who this is would be too bloody easy. So, what I want you to do is tell me which team Sir Alex was managing at the time.

To give you a hint, he was sacked by this set of jokers and his career eventually petered out after short, unsuccessful stints at Aberdeen and then Man Utd. To end the suspense, click here.

Here are other Panini highlights:

1. Dutch Lady’s man
2. French porn star
3. Massive beardy weirdy
4. Mid 90s England international
5. 80s afro Luton-style
6. Football’s biggest bastard

Unsuccessful my arse, the man’s pure genius.

I think your irony meter needs a shilling. Or perhaps you’re short of the full one.

Or maybe you’re a pananoid insecure Man U fan. Which wouldn’t preclude the first two.

I think you can probably tell I’m taking the piss. When did he ditch the combover?
