So, everyone thinks Barça are great again and Liverpool have been knocked back off their perch. An interesting night of footy all in all.
Liverpool 1 – 3 Chelsea
The lad Fernando Torres put Liverpool in front after only 4 minutes but that was as good as it got for the Reds as Chelsea administered an absolute pummeling. Big Branislav Ivanovic was the hero heading in corners either side of half-time after some of the crappest defending you’re ever liekly to see at this level of football, the first on 39 minutes taken by Malouda and the second on 62 taken by Lampard. Didier Drogba rounded off a stunning victory with as sweet a finish as you’re likely to see from a majestic Malouda cross. This was a footballing lesson.
Barcelona 4 – 0 Bayern Munich
I got to watch both matches last night, having to flick channels between the games, so I’m glad Barça turned on the style and were four up at half time, meaning I could concentrate on the other match. Little Leo Messi scored the first on nine minutes with an easy side foot finish, Samuel Eto’o doubled the lead three minutes later after great work from Messi. Henry set up Messi for the third and then stroked the ball into the far corner for the fourth before the break. This also was a fottballing lesson.
