Liverpool 4-4 Arsenal

Bugger me. Four-goal Andrey Arshavin has shattered Liverpool’s title hopes in the match of the season. So, this should stop everyone talking about Chelsea’s dodgy defence! Liverpool looked up for it early doors, but it was Liverpool in the form of Mascherano who paid a heavy price for being caught in possession ten minutes before the break, Nasri playing in Fabregas who squared the ball for Andrei Arshavin to finish well to put the Gunners into the lead.

Stunned, Liverpool bolted out the blocks in the second half, Fernando Torres heading the equaliser after 48 minutes, the turnaround seemingly completed on 55 when another ball from Kuyt on the right was headed over the line by a brave Yossi Benayoun header. Ten minutes later it was 2-2 though, Andrei Arshavin firing a belter into the far corner. Three minutes later and Arsenal took the lead for the second time, Aurelio the defender at fault this time, presenting Arshavin with an easy chance to complete his hat-trick. Two minutes later it was 3-3, Fernando Torres turning Silvestre to level the game once again. An incredible match still had two late goals to lend it legendary status, first Arshavin bagging his fourth after good work by Walcott only for Liverpool to equalise in injury-time with a close-range effort from Benayoun, surely ending Arsenal’s title dreams in the process. I’m knackered just thinking about it.
