Three second-half goals in the space of nine minutes enabled Barcelona to stroll to a 4-1 victory and the second part of a possible treble. Much to the joy of the romantics it was Atletico Bilbao, not Barcelona, who struck first in the Copa Del Rey final. Barça had an unfamiliar look in defence with reserve keeper Jose Manuel Pinto in goal and Yaya Toure at centre back again, and they were quickly exposed at a set piece, when Gaizka Toquero headed home a back-post corner from Francisco Yeste. On the half hour Yaya Toure drew Barca level with a low shot that deflected into the near post.
The Catalans took control of the match early in the second half, Leo Messi converting a rebound before young Bojan Krkic slid in a lovely third off the far post. A super free-kick from Xavi made it three goals in nine minutes to kill the match.
