Dennis Wise on ‘Record Breakers’

First of all, a special welcome to all of you arriving from the Guardian, it makes my day when they give me a mention. This marvelous clip comes courtesy of buckhysen, taken from an old video of the build up to the 1988 FA Cup final between Wimbledon and Liverpool. Here is Dennis Wise, aged 13, on ‘Record Breakers’, back when the build up to the the cup final was worth watching.

I find myself in near full agreement with a certain davetherave22, who laments,

‘I used to love football as a kid, what with interesting characters like vinnie jones, tony adams, eric cantona, etc, in the game. but now there’s nobody. I don’t care how many stepovers these current players can do, which popstar girlfriend they’re with, how realistic they can do a dive in the penalty box, or how colourful their boots are. Football, sadly, has become a bit of a joke to me now.’

The young Vinnie Jones is also great to see. Would this lad really make it in Hollywood?
