Villarreal 3 – 2 Real Madrid
Three conectutive defeats for Madrid has handed the championhip to Barça. Barcelona were crowned Primera Division champions after Real Madrid were beaten despite twice coming from behind to draw level, but keeper Iker Casillas’ mistake in stoppage time handeded Villarreal the victory which leaves Juande Ramos’ men eight points behind Barca with just two games left. Even a draw, though, would not have been enough for Madrid to stay in the title hunt.
Even worse for the buggers in white is that Florentino Pérez, the father of the galácticos, has confirmed his candidature for the Real Madrid presidency. Pérez, who made history by bringing together football heroes Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, Ronaldo, Michael Owen and David Beckham at the Bernabéu, has announced his candidature for the upcoming elections. Bugger.
Mallorca 2 – 1 Barcelona
Before the match Barca received a standing ovation for winning the league. Mighty Samuel Eto’o met a Bojan cross with a fine header as Barca took the lead but stunning free-kick from Juan Arango pulled the islanders level in the 72nd minute, before Cleber Santana turned the match on its head with a second five minutes later. Samuel Eto’o saw a late penalty saved as the newly crowned champinos fell to a rare defeat. Don’t care, up yer arse Madrid.
