Liverpool fans circa 1993:
‘Come back and sing ‘Ooh Aah Cantona’ when you’ve won 18.’
Man Utd fans today:
‘We’re back.’
Arsenal will be happy with their day’s work, i.e. they weren’t given another hiding, in fact they dominated possession in the first-half, although United did have their moments. Wayne Rooney saw a shot deflected by Toure following good work by Ronaldo and also headed wide from a penetrating cross from Carrick.
The second half continued much the same with the Gooners spending much of the time with the ball but without scoring; story of their season. Tevez had a great chance midway through the half, which he missed, but United held on to secure the point and, just like they’ve done throughout the season, did just enough to win the Premier League.
Good news for Liverpool: no team has ever won it four years on the bounce. Try actually going for it in home games against teams like Stoke and Hull and you may have a better chance.
