UEFA Tin Pot final: Shakhtar Donetsk 2 – 1 Werder Bremen

Shakhtar 2–1 Werder

Finally this bloody tournament is over and we’ve been put out of our misery.

Shakhtar Donetsk won the last ever final, thanks to Jadson’s extra-time winner in Istanbul. After a bright start, it was Shakhtar who struck first after 25 minutes, with Werder slow to react at the back as the wonderfully named Rat threaded a pass through to Luiz Adriano who raced through before coolly chipping the ball over Tim Wiese. Werder levelled thanks to a terrible handling error from Shakhtar keeper Andriy Pyatov, who found Naldo’s powerful free-kick too hot to stop as the ball trickled over the line.

After a far quieter second half, which produced no goal,s the match moved on to extra time, in which Jadson converted a Darijo Srna cross from the right hand side to hand Shakhtar the lead for the second time.
