With my wife supporting Beşiktaş, my brother-in-law Galatasaray and my father-in-law Fener, someone always ends up unhappy in derby games. Despite my delight at the result, I have to say that the quality of football was bloody rubbish last night.

Aragones looks on in horror
Beşiktaş struck first after six minutes when defender Yusuf Şimşek scored a ‘speculative’ (no chance unless the keeper makes a right balls up) low drive to the Volkan’s near post. Fener equalised midway through the half after De Souza found his striker-partner Diamond Guiza with an eye-of-the-needle pass which evaded three crap Beşiktaş defenders.
Ten minutes into the second, Beşiktaş regained the lead as Bobo picked up the ball 30-yards out and belted a beauty past the Fener goalie. Poor defending allowed Holosko to rob the ball just outside the box and his deflected cross was headed home by Bobo for 3-1. Filip Holosko wrapped up the victory with a well-taken fourth after a nice one-two with Bobo. Alex’s 90th minute penalty was mere consolation.
