Tin Pot semi-final second legs

Shakhtar Donetsk 2 – 1 Dynamo Kiev (Agg. 3-2)

Shakhtar made their home advantage count after just 17 minutes in the Ukraine semi, big Dario Srna whipping in a dangerous cross to the Kiev box and, after the Dynamo defence failed to clear their line, Jadson belted home a fantastic strike into the top corner.

Ismael Bangoura levelled for Kiev minutes into the second half to bring the tie back all-square. Shakhtar it was though who make the final just down the road from me, thanks to Ilsinho’s 89th minute winner.

Hamburg 2 – 3 Werder Bremen (Agg. 3-3*)

Talk about a right cockup. It all started promisingly, as Hamburg struck first, Ivica Olic running through to coolly slot home. The lead was short-lived though, Diego starting and finishing a nice passing move to equalise on the half hour.

Claudio Pizzarro gave Werder the lead when his long shot slipped through the keeper’s hands and Werder took total command of the tie, Frank Baumann bagging one from a Diego corner with a diving header. Ivica Olic’s second of the match was too little, too late for Martin Jol’s side who went out on the ever loved away goals rule.
