The Lance Armstrong Foundation is an American nonprofit organization that provides support for people who are affected by cancer, and was founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and world champion cyclist Lance Armstrong. The Foundation, based in Austin, Texas, affirms that its mission is ‘to inspire and empower‘ both those suffering from cancer and their families, under their motto ‘unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything‘. The Foundation moreover aims to offer realistic information and tools for cancer sufferers in terms of public health and research.
