The Firm

I’m off on my hols until the end of July, so it’s time for you all to busy yourselves with the Australian pools. Here’s a quick one before I leave…

‘The Firm’ is quite liberally adapted from Alan Clarke’s 1989 cult TV classic, although Nick Love’s film is set a bit earlier in the 80’s, smack bang in the middle of soccer casualdom, retelling a similar story to the original but from a different character’s perspective. The film centres around Dom, a young would be casual, who gets sucked into the charismatic but frequently dangerous world of the firm’s top dog, Bex. Dom soon becomes one of the boys, but as Bex and his gang scrap with rival firms across the country and the violence escalates out of control, Dom realises he wants out… he learns it’s not that easy to just walk away.

Directed by Nick Love, the film statrs Paul Anderson, Calum McNab and Daniel Mays.
