The VW boys’ Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a mental header from a quickly taken corner. Ten minutes later, Benedikt Howedes managed to level against the reigning champs with a close-range header, but Schalke’s joy was shortlived as that lad Dzeko grabbed the winner in the 81st minute.
