These geordie buggers keep winning which is no fun at all and they no longer justify a separate blog post. After Cardiff had failed to clear their lines from a corner, Fabio Coloccini powered home a header to give the Magpies the advantage at the break.
West Brom 3 – 1 Plymouth
Jamie Mackie fired across Scott Carson to hand the troubled visitors an early lead before Baggies centre-back Shelton Martis grabbed his second of the season from close range and Marek Cech found the top corner with a stunning strike to complete a first-half turnaround. A late Cech header settled the match.
Sheffield Wednesday 1 – 1 Nottingham Forest
The 1980 European champions caught Wednesday cold within the opening two minutes, first Joe Garner forcing a fine save from Lee Grant, then 60 seconds later Dexter Blackstock heading the visitors into the lead. The Owls punished the visitors’ sloppy finishing just before half-time when Marcus Tudgay volleyed home his fourth goal of the season.
