Oh well, a lovely weekend away by the sea wasn’t completely spoiled by the sense of national duty I felt that made me watch this crock of shit, despite the best efforts of the England players on display. Slovenia more than held their own in the early exchanges at Wembley but England then benefitted from a disgracefully lame penalty decision made for an apparent tug on Wayne Rooney’s shirt, with Frank Lampard tucking home from the spot.
The game got even worse after the break until Spurs duo Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe combined on the end of the box and Defoe saw a shot deflect in the net for number two. The night ended on a sour note as Pecnik cruised past a defensively inept Glen Johnson to cross for Zlatan Ljubijankic to stoop in front of a sleepy Lescott and beat Green at the near post. Remind me never to watch international friendlies ever again.

You could have had it worse, I was at the match.
