Panini Legends #14: The era of the crappy perm

Once upon a time, 1979 I believe it was, football shirts had massive wide collars and it was obligatory for players to perm their hair. This was a golden age for the spectator, as much for the ‘you’d never see me with hair like that’ factor as the football on display. This was also something of a golden era in the black country, West Brom flying fairly high and competing in the UEFA Cup and Wolverhampton soon to lift the League Cup. The king of the black country and indeed the perm haircut was this young man.

His attempt to grow a mustache may have been an abject failure, but look at those flowing locks. He would of course go on to set a record for getting injured many times and then as a manager succeed in getting loads of teams relegated.

To end the agony, click here to find out who this is.
