Birmingham 1 – 1 Manchester United
Unbelievable as its might sound, Man Utd are the new Arsenal. Although they had a load of possession, making almost twice as many passes as Birmingham, they struggled to break down the brummie boys. Deploying five in midfield meant the buggers in red were less incisive going forward because they spent too much time passing to each other.
Arsenal 2 – 2 Everton
What a difference a few months make. For large parts of the game, Everton were comfortable against the Arsenal attack, Andrey Arshavin and Eduardo da Silva’s failing to trouble the visitors’ defence. In the end, Arsenal got out of jail when Tomas Rosicky equalised in injury-time and the Gunners picked up a fortunate point.
