10 interesting facts about this season

1. Michael Owen may not be on the pitch much, but he is good value for it when he does play.

You don’t believe me, do you?

2. Antonio Valencia is offering more to his team than Ronaldo did last year.

He has seven assists to his name in the Premier League this season, one more than CR9 managed in the whole of last season.

Here he is, the cheeky little chap…

3. Wayne Rooney is rubbish with his head.

Well, until this year, that is. Wayne Rooney now has 8 headed goals in all competitions this season, double his entire tally from all previous campaigns.

4. Wayne Rooney is otherwise generally not that bad.

Wayne Rooney has now scored 15 goals in his last 15 league appearances. The entire Portsmouth team have 21 for the whole season.

5. Ashley Cole is a liability on the pitch.

8. Inter should go for it early doors.

Fulham and Chelsea have conceded the joint-fewest goals in the last 15 minutes of Premier League matches this season (2).

9. Barcelona are rubbish in Europe at the moment.

Of all the teams that qualified for the 2009-10 knockout round, only Olympiakos (4) scored fewer goals than Barcelona in the CL group stages (7).

10. Wigan have a problem with Defoe.

Jermain Defoe became the 5th player in Premier League history to score 6 goals against one opponent in a single season when he netted against Wigan.

Here the lad is in full glory…
