Chelsea 4-0 Blackpool
Chelsea brushed aside Blackpool to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points (download - 17mb). Salomon Kalou tapped home from a corner in the second minute before Florent Malouda struck from short range. Didier Drogba's deflected strike made it 3-0 before Malouda scored his second with a low shot just before the break.
MSK Zilina 1-4 Chelsea

FC Twente 2-2 Internazionale
Internazionale began the defence of their Champions League title (download) by taking the lead and then coming from behind to draw 2-2 in torrential rain at FC Twente Enschede. Amazingly, only a dozen participants in the 2009-10 Champions League have made it into the 2010-11 edition.
